My pal and former roommate Terry 'TJ' Jernigan appeared in a film with McKinney, GHOST TOWN: THE MOVIE.

A quote from TJ about McKinney:

''He was a dynamic man. I worked with him in GHOST TOWN and was slated to kill him in SHERWOOD HORROR. He worked with the electric company in Alaska when he was young. Building towers, falling trees, stretching cables, and harnessing electricity. That was Bill McKinney. He was not the definition of 'Badass'. He would tell 'badass' to sit down and listen up. He was electric steel and power to watch. If he growled a line you trembled deep off set. Best advice I ever received on a film. "Coconut oil. The best thing u can do for yourself." Then we had tea and toast. He was a good humored, direct person. And a laugh that would crack stone. R.I.P Sir.''

Did you know...?

He and his DELIVERANCE  partner Herbert 'Cowboy' Coward were named the top villains of all time in Maxim magazine's "Maxim Goes to the Movies" issue for their performance as the mountain men in the John Boorman classic.

While in the U.S. Navy, McKinney served two years on a mine sweeper in Korean waters.

His CD, "Love Songs from Antry," featured Sinatra-like numbers and some country & western tunes.

Word is Kubrick wanted McKinney for the role of the Drill Instructor in FULL METAL JACKET. McKinney was about to fly to London to meet with him, but Kubrick canceled at the last moment. He later told friend John Boorman that the prospect of meeting the mountain man from DELIVERANCE was simply too terrifying.

He filmed a Doritos commercial 2 weeks before he died.
