With his distinctive, premature, steel wool white hair and bristly brush moustache, he was also a familiar face on the big screen.

His specialty was pompous politicos, boorish scoundrels and unethical businessmen.

He played such memorable roles as smarmy Otis Elwell in SWEET SMELL OF SUCCESS, philandering Mr. Eichelberger in THE APARTMENT, Mr. Lassiter in SUNRISE AT CAMPOBELLO, Burt Harris in THE GODDESS, Dr. Hammond in THE GREAT IMPOSTOR, Mr. Fowler in SNOWBALL EXPRESS, Sen. Rawlings in THE HAPPY HOOKER GOES TO WASHINGTON and Hume Cronyn's lawyer in 1985's BREWSTER'S MILLIONS.
