Best known for his roles opposite Glenn Ford in BLACKBOARD JUNGLE & TRIAL, Rafael Campos died from cancer on July 9th, 1985. He was only 49.

Born Rafael Leonidas Campos Navarro Diaz in the city of Santiago in the Dominican Republic on May 13,1936, Campos appeared in over 90 films and TV programs in his over 30-year career.
Besides BLACKBOARD & TRIAL, his other notable big screen credits include: Carlos in THE SHARKFIGHTERS, Half Arrow in THE LIGHT IN THE FOREST (my favorite Campos performance), Strong Bear in TONKA, Essie, one of Olivia de Haviland's nutty tormentors in LADY IN A CAGE, Paco in THE APPALOOSA, Jimmy in OKLAHOMA CRUDE, Hussein in THIS COULD BE THE NIGHT, Juan in THE ASTRO-ZOMBIES, crazy Rojas in WHERE THE BUFFALO ROAMS, Chato in THE RETURN OF JOSEY WALES and Rafael in THE DOLL SQUAD.

He was married to popular 1950's singer Dinah Washington from 1961 to 1962.
He was the sixth of Washington's seven husbands.
She died in 1963 at age 39 from an overdose of barbiturates.
